”The pitch,’ the funding carnival for start-ups was held on Saturday at PSG College of Technology premises as a part of KovaiVizha‘s, 12th edition. This year The Pitch is new on the list of Kovai Vizha’s agenda which was conceptualized by Young Indians Coimbatore (Yi) ,co-organized by Native Angels Network (NAN) and TiE Coimbatore.
The idea is to use the overwhelming community engagement that Vizha brings to build an ecosystem that supports innovation and entrepreneurship and enabling the next wave of business legacy to emerge from the City, said the organizers of the event.
“The inherent entrepreneurial spirit of Coimbatore cannot be ignored while one talks about Coimbatore,“said, Mr.Ajit, one of the organizers of The Pitch.
Served as a platform for new start-ups and innovations from the region, the goal for “The Pitch” is to bring together all the bodies and organizations working in this space, regionally and nationally, to collaborate, boost the eco system and enable a sustainable environment for further innovation and growth for the community, the organizers added.
In its debut year, The Pitch managed to reach over 10 start-up bodies, incubators and associations scouring more than 100 applications from places like Bangalore, Chennai, Madurai, Erode and Kerala.
The organisations represented a variety of industry segments including from chemical innovations to manufacturing process excellence from new age tech enable services to inclusive e-commerce.
After shortlisting, 11 start-ups with sufficiently commercialized businesses seeking angel investors to access within range of Rs. 15 lakhs to 1 crore and starts-ups having considerable potential that are seeking further development and support from the ecosystem in the areas like incubation, mentorship, financial advisory or strategic support, pitched to access the network, organisers said.
