In as many as 104 stalls at Kovai Vizha’s Art Street, were lined up displays of diverse artistic talents. The two days weekend event was inaugurated on Saturday at Race Course Scheme road by Inspector General of Police (West Zone) K.Periaiah.B.K.Krishna Raj Vanavarayar,Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan Chairman and national award winner,and artistJeeva were among the city’s noted business personalities and VIPs were present at the event.
A notable attraction in the gallery named Jana’s Learning Studio, children painted colourful Pongal pots and kite. Workshops were also conducted in arts such as, Tape art-an easy wall decor for kids and adults, basic technique of glass painting by ‘Kinder art’, Air N Craft, Decoupage and up cycling workshop by ‘Our Art story’, drawing and painting class for children by ‘Global Art’ and paint your tote by Sasi Creative institute of Design.
Tanjore painting, Vasthu Paintings Glue paintings, Brass paintings, Murals, Sand art, multi grain art, soft pastels, fabric painting, miniature leaf painting, Diamond stroke pointing, MDF wood work painting, soap carving, Acrylic board painting, Coffee painting, painting in bottles, waste wooden piece were displayed in the name of ‘up cycling’ an art from waste to wealth attracted many .
Participant M.Savithru’s paper art, a micro sculpture of national leaders and eminent personalities of India done on carbon of pencil tip was another major draw at Art Street.
Water and canvas Painting was also kept for sales in many stalls staring from few hundreds to over a lakh rupees. ‘’Snack stalls including mobile barbecue and beverages along with light music at ‘Art Street’ would make this weekend a memorable one among the Coimbatorians,’’ said an organizers of Kovai Vizha-2019, 12th edition.
