Railways to run eight special trains for Deepavali

Chennai, Oct. 12:

The Southern Railway is expected to run eight special trains to Tirunelveli, Nagerkovil, Ernakulam and Coimbatore during the Deepavali festival to ease the rush. The Deepvali festival falls on 27 October (Sunday) and as such lakhs of people from Chennai will go to their native places in Tirunelveli and Nagerkovil from Saturday onwards.

Reservations for Deepavali have already been completed and the number of people waiting for confirmation is on the rise. A consultative meeting of the railway officials was convened last week to consider the running of special trains for the festival season.

According to officials, the railway is mulling of running special trains to Tirunelveli, Nagerkovil, Ernakulam and Coimbatore during Deepavali.

Though the railways will operate eight special trains in Tamil Nadu alone, it has not yet been confirmed. The railways may run more specials. The railways wil come out with an official statement in this regard soon.
