Three die as car collides with truck near Jayankondam


Three people died on the spot and four other suffered injuries when a sport utility vehicle (SUV) they were travelling in collided with a truck near Jayankondam on the Chennai-Kumbakonam highway in the early hours of Friday.

The deceased were identified identified as Anilkumar, Anandakumar and Nagendran from Masti village in Kolar district of Karnataka state. Anandkumar and Anilkumar were running a finance company.

All the three had come to visit Tirunallur and after having darshan they were returning to Karanataka. One Vijayakanth from Krishnagiri joined them. The Meensuritti police in Ariyalur district, who registered a case, said the SUV carrying seven people was going to Kumbakonam from Chennai.  While nearing Thaluthalaimedu hamlet around 4am, the SUV collided with a sand-laden truck coming from the opposite direction. The injured were admitted to Ariyalur government hospital f rom there they were shifted to government hospital in Thanjavur..
