PM Modi to launch pension schemes for farmers

New Delhi, Sept. 12:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in poll-bound Jharkhand’s Ranchi on Thursday to launch Kisan Mandhan Yojana (KMDY) scheme.
PM Narendra Modi will also launch ‘Pradhan Mantri Laghu Vyaparik Mandhan Yojana’ and ‘Swarojgar’ pension schemes during his one-day visit to Ranchi.

The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Mandhan Yojana will secure the lives of 5 crore small and marginal farmers by providing a minimum pension of Rs 3,000 per month to those who have attained the age of 60.
The scheme has an outlay of Rs 10,774 crore for the next three years.

All the small and marginal farmers who are currently between the ages of 18 to 40 years are eligible to avail the benefits.
“PM will launch this scheme. Earlier, he had launched the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi minimum income support scheme, which gives Rs 6,000 annually to farmers.

Like PM KISAN, through which we have reached out to around 85 million farmers so far, we expect to benefit more and more farmers through the pension scheme,” said a senior agriculture department official, who did not wish to be identified.
TN chief minister Palanisamy has directed the officials of the agriculture department to enroll one lakh farmers under the scheme.
