Two robberies on the same day rocked the city. Burglars stole Rs.4.34 lakh cash from a sales shop at Kovilpalayam.
In another incident, Rs.1.35 lakh worth jewellery and cash were stolen from a house at Edayarpalayam. Coimbatore rural police have booked cases and investigations are on.
According to the police the complainant, Ganesvaran owned a building materials shop at Kongu Nagar in Kovilpalayam, outskrits of Coimbatore district.
He had kept Rs.4.34 lakh in a steel locker of his shop on June 22. When the security guard of the shop went inside , he noticed that the rooftop was broken and the locked safe was open, with nothing inside.
The case was registered at Kovilpalayam police station on Tuesday under Section 380 and 457 of the IPC. The forensic team has lifted five fingerprints from the crime scene and the CCTV footage has been collected for further investigation.
Similarly, 13 sovereigns of gold ornaments and Rs.5000 cash were stolen from the locked house at Anbu Nagar in Edayarpalayam. The house is owned by Haridharanath (70). On June, He and his wife went to Bangalore to their daughter’s house . When they had returned on Tuesday, they found that the locked wooden door was open.
They saw that the steel cupboard was open, and jewels and cash worth around Rs.1.35 lakh were missing. Thudiyalur police have booked a case under Sections 454, 457 and 380 of IPC and colected two fingerprints and palm prints from the crime scene.
