Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisamy will leave for Delhi today evening. He will meet Prime Minister Modi tomorrow. The BJP has been returned to power for the second time with a single majority. The Niti Ayog meeting will be held tomorrow after the new government was formed.
Chief ministers of all the states have been invited to attend the meeting. The chief minister, accompanied by Girija Vaidyanathan, chief secretary to government and other senior officials will be leaving for Delhi by evening flight today.
After the Niti Ayog meeting, Palanisamy is likely to take up various issues, including exempting Tamil Nadu from NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test), among others with Modi. Palanismay will also meet union home minister Amit Shah and other central ministers.
He will return to Chennai by evening flight. Day before yesterday a meeting of AIADMK office bearers was held at party headquarters here. The issue of single/dual leadership was given a quiet burial at the meeting.
Immediately after the meeting was over, the chief minister called on Governor Banwarilal Purohit at the Guindy Raj Bhavan. He discussed many issues with the Governor and also urged the release of the seven persons convicted in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case. Therefore, the visit of the chief minister to Delhi at this juncture is considered significant.
