Actor Vijay is in talks with director Lokesh Kanagaraj for his next film after Thalapathy 63. Speaking to Silverscreen, the director said, “I cannot reveal anything until an official announcement is made but talks with Vijay are on.” Reports say that Lokesh narrated a one-liner to the actor which impressed him and he is likely to give his nod.
The director recently wrapped up shoot for the Karthi-starrer Kaithi, which is a prison-break action film, also featuring Ramana, Anjathey Naren, George Mariyaan and others. The film is said to portray events happening over four hours. It is expected to release in July this year.
Lokesh made his debut with Maanagaram, also an action-thriller, which won rave reviews in 2018. The film had four parallel stories and starred Sundeep Kishan, Regina Cassandra and Sree in the lead. Meanwhile, Vijay, Atlee and the Thalapathy 63 team are busy with the final 70-day shoot which started this month.
The actor met fans outside the shooting spot, and the makers also officially announced the news. Pictures of Vijay with collar support at the football stadium sets in EVP, Chennai, had earlier gone viral on social media. The team tweeted asking fans to stay cool and not spread rumours.
Thalapathy 63 is an investigative thriller with a sports backdrop. It is lighter than Vijay’s previous films, the actor recently revealed. This is his third collaboration with Atlee after Theri and Mersal, both big-budget films. Nayanathara plays the female lead. Varsha Bolamma, Indhuja, Kathir, Jackie Shroff, Vivekh, Yogi Babu and others are said to have important roles.
AR Rahman is the music composer for the project, and Vivek is the lyricist. Atlee’s Mersal team, including stunt director Anal Arasu and art director Muthuraj, are on board. Thalapathy 63 is scheduled to release during Diwali this year. But before that Vijay fans are gearing up for his birthday on June 22, the preparations for which have begun.
