Ten youths arrested in Coimbatore


The Coimbatore city police arrested ten youths for torturing five youths after locking them in a room at Singanallur here on Tuesday.  The accused have been identified as Gokulraj, Manoj, Sankar, Madan, Sivakumar, Sumesh, Karthi alias Pinda Karthi, Sampau Moojipur and Zimson.

The police have recovered a two-wheeler, two knives, two ATM cards, two cell phones and Rs 3,000 in cash.  A few days ago, the complainant had organised a birthday party of one his friends and invited most of his friends.

At the birthday bash, a fight broke out between the complainant and Gokulraj. During the party, the complainant had broken the window shields of Gokulraj’s car, said a police.

Explaining that the car belonged to the employer of Gokulraj who was working as a manager in a hostel, the official said that as the employer had threatened to deduct the money required to repair the car from Gokulraj’s salary, the accused had started to demand money from the complainant.

The money that was said to be required to repair the car was Rs 80,000. “The complainant was delaying payment. Annoyed over this, Gokulraj invited the complainant and four of his friends to a hostel room in Singanallur where the youths were assaulted . by him and his friends.

The victims were locked up in the room for a couple of days and were subjected to torture said ,” the official.
Based on a complaint from Ajith who had managed to flee from the room, the Singanallur police registered an FIR and arrested the accused.

Apart from registering hurt case again st all ten youths, a robbery case was registered against all ten youths, a robbery case was registered against three accused – Madan, Sumesh and Karthi – against whom a murder case is in credit, for robbing the victims.
