Chief Electoral Officer Satyabrata Sahoo said that enquiry will be conducted with actor Sivakarthikeyan and Srikanth for having cast their votes when their names were not on the rolls. Speaking to media persons Sahoo said action would be taken against those officials who allowed the actors to cast their votes.
“The presiding officer-I is entrusted with the responsibility of verifying the name of voter in electoral rolls. Accordingly, departmental action will be taken,’’ he said. A case has to be filed in this connection and it may take time. The erring officer would be punished, he added.
Only the Election Commission will decide the disciplinary proceedings. Now the case is being heard by the district election officer. After receiving his report, the lapses will be listed and explanation will be sought from the officer concerned.
There will be a three level inquiry. The version of the actors will be compared with that of the officers concerned. Thirdly the report of the investigating officer will be submitted to the district election officer who will decide the punishment. This will be confirmed by the Election Commission
