Five die at booths in various places

Chennai, Apr 18:

Five people were reported to have died due to fainting in various parts of Tamil Nadu after coming out of booths casting their votes . In Coimbatore, Balakrishnan, an aged man, died while coming out of a polling centre at Gandhima nagar here after casting his vote.

Similarly, Mallika, an aged woman died while coming out of a polling centre at Kurungalur village near Aranthangi.  In Salem, one Krishnan fainted and died after coming out of a booth at Vedapatti village.

A woman who came to a polling booth at Pudupet in central Chennai died of shock when she was told that her name was not in the electoral rolls.  The deceased woman was identified as Sicily Morale.

On being told that her name was not in the voters’ list, the woman picked a wordy quarrel with the officials at the booth for a long time. She suffered from chest pain and died of shock.  In Erode Murugesan, aged 60, who had come to cast his vote at the polling booth in Sivagiri, died after fainting at the booth.
