Coimbatore, Jan 7:
As many as 22 associations including Gujarati Samaj, Gurudwara Singh Saba, Sindhi Association, Malayalee Association, Agarwal Samaj, Badaga, Karnatakan and Konkani Associations joined hands along with school bands to show case their ethnic cultural with their music to celebrate the ‘Kovai Vizha’ on Sunday evening by taking part in the ‘Cultural parade’ that started from Race course scheme road around 3pm and ended at the same around 6 pm after walking along with Race course walking corridor covering 2 KMs.
People from different states across the nation including Kerala, Karnataka, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Andra and many more settled at Coimbatore assembled at Race course on Sunday evening with their cultural dress and music Including Tharai thapattai, Salangai Attam, Mylattam, Oyilattam, Thavil, Nathasvaram, Punjabi doll and Rajasthani Geer dance along with camels and few with decorated few chariots.
Students along with school band took part in the parade from many schools including ABC Matric higher secondary school, Chandra Gandhi public school, ELS matric higher secondary school, GRD-CPF Matric School, Jayandra Saraswathi Matric School, Mallian Matric Higher secondary school and Venkatalaxmi Higher Secondary school, accompanied by Equestrian club and Young Indians.
Tamilar Valour sports including Silambam, star fire Silambam, Vaal Veechu, Surul Vaal Veechu, Vel kambu Veechu and Bharatha Natiyam were some of the highlights staged by the students from Kumara Guru College of Technology, Karpagam University and UIT.
